Born in Rafal in 1973, Amaya Sánchez grew up amongst patterns and fabrics in her parent’s workshop, which soon sparked off her interest in design and fashion. At the age of 18 she moves to Madrid to take up her studies at “Centro Superior de Diseño y Moda”. Once she completed her studies, her creative concerns and her passion for theatre take her to London in 1994, where she extends her studies with the realization of a Postgraduate, in the prestigious University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins.
Amaya combined her studies with the making (realization) of small fashion collections for exclusive clients, while collaborating with theatre companies designing costumes. At the same time, she launches her first line of t-shirts under her own label, Virus, in which she projects her manifesto with fresh and adventurous designs. Finally, in 1998 she joins the family business in charge of product development and realization.
